Barcelona Ready for Inaugural Game at Upgraded Camp Nou over the weekend

Barcelona have announced their first game will take place at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou over the weekend. Athletic Bilbao will visit the Bilbao team in domestic competition two and a half years after they moved out so building work could begin.

“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”

Attendance will be limited with 45,401 fans can be present under the licence granted. When completed, it will accommodate over 104,000 attendees, increasing from the former 99,000. Officials confirmed completed upgrades featured a new players’ tunnel plus modern locker rooms.

Stadium Testing

Barça organized an open training session on the home pitch earlier this month. The club said approval is being pursued from European football’s governing body to host the next European match against Eintracht Frankfurt next month at the stadium. They have been hosting matches at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
