Chelsea Boss Maresca Dismisses Man City Speculation as Pure Gossip
Chelsea gaffer Enzo Maresca has branded recent reports linking him with a return to Manchester City as nothing but hearsay.
The Italian manager, who previously worked as Pep Guardiola's right-hand man in Manchester, responded to the ongoing rumours about his next move.
Maresca, appointed Chelsea boss in the summer of 2024, has a contract that runs until 2029, with a potential extension available.
"It doesn't bother me at all because I know that is 100% speculation," Maresca stated. "And at this moment, there is no time for these kind of things."
He went on to explain, "First of all, because I have a contract here for several more years. And my attention, I said many times, is just about this club and I'm very proud to be here. But again, it's rumour. One week ago I was linked with Juventus in Italy. So I don't pay attention because I know that is not true."
Chelsea, currently sitting fourth in the top flight, are set to face Newcastle United on Saturday in a 12:30 GMT fixture.
Strain After Recent Comments
Maresca's latest statement come in the wake of he referred to a recent two-day spell as his most difficult since joining Chelsea.
Those initial words had sparked considerable talk of a potential rift between the manager and the club's ownership hierarchy.
When pressed if he had since spoken with the club's sporting directors, Maresca replied, "We are in the same building, so we speak about various topics. But about the post-Everton press conference, no."
The Italian however affirmed he would "absolutely" stay at the club next season and called on the fans to "continue to support the team".
In brighter news, Maresca revealed that sidelined forwards Liam Delap and Estevao Willian could be back sooner than expected, potentially available for a fixture against Aston Villa later this month.

The apparent disconnect between Maresca and the Chelsea board persists as an unhealed issue that still create unease.
While there has been no further escalation of the situation publicly, there has also been no apology offered, creating the matter unresolved.
The atmosphere during the manager's media briefings has grown notably strained, raising concerns it could undermine what has up to now been a decent beginning to the season.
Chelsea's on-field position is strong: they are fourth in the Premier League, have qualified for the League Cup last four, and can achieve a better Champions League position with strong performances in their final games.
