Ex- British Broadcasting Corporation Specialists Face MPs' Grilling Following Claims of Prejudice in Unauthorized Document
We open with queries from Conservative MP the panel's head, who chairs the committee.
She opens by giving context to the leaked memorandum prepared by Michael Prescott and released in a national newspaper.
"It is not my wish for the British Broadcasting Corporation slanting in any particular direction, I simply desire it neutral, impartial and fair," he says.
Upon being questioned if he thinks the BBC is structurally prejudiced, the adviser replies: "No I don't. It is important to note, a great deal the BBC does is top-tier - both informative and entertainment content."
Nevertheless, he states: "There remains real work that requires attention at the British Broadcasting Corporation."
A further former external British Broadcasting Corporation specialist interviewed by the committee, Caroline Daniel, states she takes the British Broadcasting Corporation extremely earnestly and that it has a "continuous process and active debate" regarding fluid and multifaceted subjects.
"Was the BBC willing to conduct a thorough discussion and debate and implement changes?" she questions. "As I see it, affirmative, they were."
