Manchester United Set to Sign German Striker Lea Schüller away from Bayern Munich
The Women's Super League club are finalising completing the signing for prolific German striker Lea Schüller on a permanent transfer from Bayern Munich.
A Marquee Signing for the WSL Side
The forward, with half a year left on her deal, is known as a prolific goal-getter for her club and the national team. Having netted over 100 goals for Bayern and scored 54 times in 82 caps for Germany. This signing is viewed as a marquee signing for the WSL team.
Her exit from Munich was expected after she appeared to be fighting back tears while thanking the club's supporters following a victory over Bayer Leverkusen this month.
It was reported in late December that the German women's top flight was set to lose one of its leading strikers. Per reports, all the paperwork for the move are now finalised.
Reliable Goalscoring to Boost United's Forward Line
The 28-year-old’s arrival is expected to provide a major uplift to United’s forward line. She has been remarkably consistent with her finishing in Germany’s top flight.
- Over seven consecutive seasons, up to and including the last term, she reached at least a double-digit tally of league goals.
- She claimed the Golden Boot in 2021-22 season with a haul of 16 goals.
Gathering Steam at Carrington
The acquisition of the German international comes at a time when United seem to be building momentum.
Recent on-pitch successes include qualifying for the Champions League knockout phase playoffs as a seeded team and a win in the League Cup quarter-finals.

- The acquisition of Sweden defender Hanna Lundkvist on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
- The new deal for Japanese playmaker Hinata Miyazawa, a fan favourite since joining in 2023.
On the midfielder's new deal, a senior figure stated: “Miyazawa is now a vital component to the way we play. Her understanding of the game and technical ability enables her and the team to control and dictate play from central areas.”
The new defender, having joined from a club in the American league, said: “You can feel how much the club have grown in the last few years, competing in one of the most competitive leagues in the world and now featuring in the Champions League.”
