McKenna's Position on The Scottish Club

McKenna described Celtic as "an enormous soccer institution" but emphasized he is "in the middle" of a "extensive rebuilding" with Ipswich Town.

The mid-thirties took charge of Ipswich in 2021 and led them to the Premier League with consecutive elevations, but they won just four games last season as they were relegated back to the second division and they presently occupy twelfth place in England's second tier.

"I have not had such discussions," the English capital native former Irish young player said when asked about being on Celtic's shortlist.

"This isn't a matter I have considered seriously, or where any part of my concentration is this week.

"I possess a special job here at a remarkable club. And we're at a really important stage of the season. Everything external hasn't reached my radar."

Background and Contractual Details

It has been suggested that the manager would be open to speaking to Celtic given his boyhood allegiances.

"During youth, we all have our affinities," he said when asked about these. "It's unlikely all people has to publicly and announce what they were, but of course it's a really big sports organization."

The coach signed a new four-year contract in 2024 and was asked about his alleged £5m release clause.

"Throughout coaching agreements, there are things," he responded. "I don't know what mine are and, if I did, I wouldn't tell you regardless!

"I approach this role like I will remain Ipswich manager indefinitely. I understand that's not always going to be the case, but I'll always do my best as while I remain in position."

The Welsh Coach's Position

Bellamy played for the Hoops on temporary transfer from the Magpies in 2005, but the ex- Welsh striker is inclined to complete the current World Cup campaign, a stance that would practically eliminate the mid-forties from immediately taking the Glasgow position.

Wales are currently in third place in their qualifying group behind group toppers Belgium and second-placed Macedonia.

Victories over the minnows and their rivals in November would book their place in the final qualifying round, but they are virtually assured of reaching that stage, thanks to a productive European competition performance, should they fail to end up Group J runners-up.

Given his present position, Bellamy, whose agreement concludes after Euro 2028, would be unavailable until after the play-offs at the minimum.
